How this happened
I was backpacking through Nainital with a few other creatives when a 2-day design challenge landed in my lap, create campaign banners for Cadbury Cocoa for the region. No studio, no setup. Just the brief, a laptop, and the hills around us.
The brief was specific: this wasn't a national campaign. It was targeted at regions where Cadbury Cocoa already had traction, and the job was to reinforce that connection locally.
What I designed
Two formats: a social post built around audience engagement, asking people what they'd cook with Cadbury Cocoa, and a banner leading with nostalgia and warmth. Both leaned into Cadbury's existing visual world, the signature red, the bold typography, the product front and center, while keeping the copy conversational enough to work in a regional context.
The unusual part
The banners weren't just digital. I collaborated with local tea stalls in Nainital to put these posters up on their walls, the exact places where someone might reach for cocoa. It made the campaign feel native to the environment rather than something parachuted in from a Mumbai studio.
Designing in an unfamiliar place with a tight deadline and limited resources forced a kind of clarity. No overthinking, no endless iterations. Just brief, decision, output.
